Scientific Method (Assignment #1)
- It is possible that the student is falling asleep in class because he is sitting in the back of the classroom.
- Test:
- I would test this hypothesis by asking the student to relocate to the front of the classroom, near the professor.
- If the student stayed awake, this would support my hypothesis that his location in the classroom caused him to fall asleep.
- If the student fell asleep anyway, it would suggest that my hypothesis was falsified.
3. An example of an untestable, unfalsifiable explanation would be that an invisible sorceress cast a sleeping spell on him every time he was in that particular class at that particular time.
It didn't occur to me that position could be effecting his attention. I always try to sit in the front, so I often forget how hard it is to sit in the back sometimes.
ReplyDeleteYour Hypothesis on why the student kept falling asleep in class was great, not being in front of the class and not being able to grasp everything the professor as saying could have made the student feel unprepared in class each day.
ReplyDeleteI like that you used location of seating in the scenario because it allows you to make many alterations of seating in the classroom to test your hypothesis. Great job!

Falsify (5/5)
Untestable Hypothesis (10/10) - Good. As long as the cause is undetectable in any way, this works.
